T: 1800 100 500 JOIN A SOCIAL GROUP Hutchinson Builders Charity Night A very special thank you to Hutchinson Builders for raising $56,775 at their Charity Night on Friday 9 April for AlzNSW. The black-tie affair was held at the Sydney Town Hall with comedian Anh Do as MC. The CEO of AlzNSW, The Hon. John Watkins, accepted a cheque for $50,000 on behalf of the organisation. A special thank you to Kevin Hopping from Hutchinson Builders who has organised the event for three years running and rallied the team to collect more donations. As a result, a further $6775 was raised from Hutchinson Builders’ generous clients. All in all, it was a wonderful night enjoyed by all. Café Connect provides opportunities for people with dementia and their carers to share information and ideas over morning tea or coffee, as well as enjoying social contact. There are several Café Connect cafes running throughout NSW. Bang the Drum So far this year, the Newcastle Social Group has visited the Shortland wetlands, picnicked at Blackbutt Reserve, taken the train to the Sydney Town Hall and enjoyed several visits to the Civic Theatre. Fran Dumont, a clinical nurse consultant, will be speaking to the group on 15 June at the Hunter Dementia Memory Resource Centre in Hamilton, and the group is organising trips to the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley in October for people with dementia and their carers.
